Goober Pea Designs Split Pea Tunic and Dress Review- by Angie

GPD Split Pea Tunic and Dress Review

This is not your average tunic/dress pattern.  It has such a cute element in the back that lets you use a pop of color, or just stick with the same fabric as the main (which is what I did).

Pattern Info

This pattern from Goober Pea Designs is for ages 6 months all the way up to 14. It has sleeveless, short, ¾, and long sleeve options, as well as grow cuffs for the long sleeve option to make it last even longer.  It also has a tunic or dress option. I chose the short-sleeve tunic option for my daughter. This pattern also offers layers, which is such a lifesaver when printing! It also makes it so easy to blend sizes, which is what I had to do for my daughter.  I made her a size 7 with 8 height.

Fabric Suggestions

For my daughter’s tunic, I used leftover reverse french terry I bought two years ago from Surge Fabric Shop.  Rather than do a pop of color in the back, I chose to do it all with the same fabric. I love the results! I plan to make another one for a wedding this fall, but with long sleeves and a dress length.  It has such a nice swing factor because of the pleat in the back. This would be another great pattern to use leftover fabric for the back piece, so you can use up your fabric stash.

Transitioning

With all the different sleeve lengths, this top can be made for all the seasons!  You can make a short-sleeve dress and just add leggings as it gets cooler. As part of the bundle, you can also get the Simple Leggings from Cucicucicoo.  Then you’ll have a whole outfit to go from summer to fall! You can even pair it with the Venice Beach Beanie from Golden Rippy, also included with the bundle, for the cooler nights.
