With my 16th wedding anniversary fast approaching, the Bloesem Dress from The Eli Monster was the perfect addition to my wardrobe. I hastily bought the perfect fabric a few days prior to the big day, cut and sewed in two days while the kids were at school.

Fast forward to the big day, the elegant dress is ready to wear and….
My husband forgot our wedding anniversary.
So now I have the perfect date night dress in my wardrobe, just waiting for a contrite husband to organise a night out!

What I love about The Bloesem Dress
The Bloesem dress has a gorgeous fit and flair design, with lots of details to make a classy date night dress. The long flowy sleeves are perfect to cover up those *cough* tuckshop lady arms (bingo wings) *cough*, and also make it a great dress for in-between seasons.
Dress it up with thick tights and boots for colder weather, or use a lighter fabric for summer. It’s a dress for all seasons!
I made the Bloesem dress in a mid-weight jersey, in a gorgeous eggplant colour. My measurements were exactly in-between sizes, so I made the larger size, but I think next time I’ll size down. The back is a little loose for my liking, and needs a little more tapering to fit my shape.

The fabric drapes well across my belly, with no need for shapewear – so much better for a three course meal on date night! The dress is so comfortable, I feel like I could wear it to bed after a night out too!
This dress is so comfortable
The keyhole neckline gives a hint of bust but is still very modest. Rather than using a hook and eye, or buttons at the neckline, I just hand stitched the top closed. The fabric has plenty of stretch to get the dress on and off easily without the closure.
So if you’re looking for the perfect dress to sew for date night, get The Bloesem Dress from The Eli Monster (and hopefully your other half won’t forget!).
